The PhD research work presented here was devoted to the study of new synthetic routes for the fabrication and study of organic and hybrid organic/inorganic devices for optoelectronic and photovoltaic applications. A first part regarded the development of a combinatorial methodology applied to the study of the energy transfer between two organic materials co-deposited by physical vapor deposition. Composition-spread libraries of two organic materials in which donor and acceptor concentrations change continuously for two orders of magnitude along the library’s spatial coordinates were prepared with this technique and the energy transfer process between para-sexiphenyl (p6P) and tris-(8-hydroxyquinolinato)aluminum(III) (Alq3 ) was studied. Recent results are presented. A second part of this work involved solid-state Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells (DSSCs) based on nanoporous titanium dioxide and an organic holes transport material.
