SUMMARY Facial mobility evaluation is a crucial issue for a correct and detailed functional diagnosis and a proper therapeutic treatment for patients with facial movement impairments. A specific scale, the “House-Brackmann grading Scale”, has been developed, which ranks damages according to severity levels. Unfortunately, this classification is affected by the single physician’s subjective point of view and it only provides quantitative data. In order to carry out a scientifically founded study on human movement a visual observation of the phenomenon is not sufficient, but a numerical elaboration of proper figures to define movement in the space is also necessary. A database has been specifically created, which includes healthy reference individuals for the evaluation of patients presenting facial nerve impairments.
